HR CONSULTING LEADER WFD DEFINES NEW DIRECTIONS

Business Management Pioneers Focus on Consulting Services

Watertown, Massachusetts, August 21, 2000-Boston-based business consulting firm WFD has capped off eighteen months of transition with a more expansive focus for the company and a move from its long-time headquarters.

WFD, which pioneered many of the work-life and work flexibility policies now commonplace in many large corporations, has expanded its consulting services to include many of its North American clients' overseas facilities as well as several foreign national companies, announced Fran Rodgers, chief executive officer.

"While we continue to work closely with our domestic clients, half the work WFD is now doing takes place outside the United States," said Rodgers. "Our consultants have analyzed employee needs and cultural issues surrounding commitment to work, dependent care, and women's employment issues in over 20 countries as diverse as Ireland, South Africa, Brazil, the U.K., and Japan. Although many of our practices were developed stateside, we've found that these issues are relevant to employers and employees all over the globe."

The expansion into international projects parallels the overall increase of WFD's corporate consulting on issues related to workload and commitment, as corporate concern in respect to the relationships between workload and employee retention grow.

WFD is located at 200 Talcott Avenue West, Watertown, Massachusetts, 02472, and can be reached by phone, 617-673-3100; by fax, 617-926-6443; or through the company website, www.wfd.com .

A leader in the work-life field, WFD continues to develop innovative policies and programs, as well as much of the industry's leading-edge research on the business impact of work-life policies. Since its inception, WFD has helped hundreds of companies, including more than 20 percent of the Fortune 500, become more profitable through workplace flexibility, people-focused work redesign, women's advancement and retention strategies, and improved employee commitment.
