PRESS RELEASES

Leading Provider of Work-Life and Work Environment Consulting is Purchased by a Group of Long-Time Employees

It was announced today that the Boston-based WFD Consulting, a firm known for its leadership in providing consulting on work-life and work environment issues, has been purchased from Fran and Charles Rodgers, the former owners and founders of the company, by a group of employees who have worked with the company for many years. In making the announcement, WFD President Peter Linkow emphasized both the new opportunities as well as the continuity that the sale represents. "For our clients, vendors, and partners, the transition will be seamless. We will remain true to our commitments. We expect no changes except those that result from our continuing drive for quality. For the employees of WFD Consulting, this transition represents a unique opportunity to explore and chart the new pathways of our business and to experience the empowerment of ownership."

Fran Rodgers, who founded the company twenty years ago, will be Chairman of the Board and will continue to work on many activities related to women's advancement. She observed "It is appropriate to make this transition on WFD's twentieth anniversary. WFD has always been about engaging people's commitment, and this is a way for many of the people who have built WFD's reputation and success to be involved in the mission and success of the company in an even more meaningful way than before."
The Rodgers, who are deeply involved in Boston and other community activities and serve on numerous for-profit and not-for-profit boards, had announced their intention two years ago to move away from the day-to-day management of the company. The sale marks the final step in that process. Charles Rodgers commented, "We believe that the need for WFD's services is more profound than ever before, and there is no better way of ensuring the continuance of the firm than to put it in the hands of people who have worked with us to create the services and products that made WFD a leader in the work-life field."

Known for creating the first national child care resource and referral service in the mid-80s, today WFD offers a wide range of research and consulting services in dependent care, work-life issues, workplace flexibility, women's advancement, and strategies for creating commitment and resilience in today's workforce. WFD also manages the American Business Collaboration, an 11.7 million dollar corporate collaboration focused on supporting employees' ability to manage work and personal life. The firm has a varied client list, including many Fortune 100 companies and corporations recognized for their progressive human resource policies. Working with global organizations, the firm has delivered its services in more than twenty-five countries world-wide.

Speaking of the change in ownership, Arlene Johnson, Vice President, affirmed the firm's intention to stay in the forefront of workplace issues. "We have always considered ourselves to be in a dynamic environment. Business trends, client needs, and the global economy will undoubtedly take us down new paths, as they have in the past. As new owners of the company, we will take advantage of this event to reaffirm our business mission and commitment to innovation and client service."
